Does curriculum support the technology or the technology support curriculum

a question that played in my mind which preceeds which. are the curriculum that support the technology or the technology itself support the curriculum. hmm... in my opinion, i think that nowadays we need both to support each other in order to increase our education. this is because nowadays we cannot run for technology. every thing is in technology even our class held in this class wit full of technolgy called as LAB.

technology is a tool in teaching. without technology also, teaching can still be done but will you be interested if the techer just use the same old method of using this thing called as blackboard? will it be easy for you to search resources without technology? dat's why i think that both of them support each other in order for better teaching.

however, sometimes old methods are better rather than using technology. it all depends on the thing that teacher going to teach and also the teacher themself. if the teacher used lot of technology but did not know to use it properly, the class wil be dull and demotivates pupils to study. so once again it need both in order for better learning

what can i says about our curriculum specification or syllabus. we as a teacher need to use and follow this thing called as CS. in my opinion, teacher should not only tied with CS where they can teach pupils in school with lots of other thing. dont limit ur students knowledge with the thing on the CS, but teacher must be creative in their teahing. teacher can integrate their teaching with technology and also can use environemt as a tool in teaching. CS can only be as a guide of teaching.

5Ps of ICT Integration in Teaching and Learning

1. preview

teacher need to preview and understand well their students. what they need to teach, profiency level and many more so that the teaching can run smoothly

2. prepare

teacher must always be ready and prepare for the lesson. don always do last minutes work and prepare the material and the tools early so that teaching will not be interrupted such as no LCD an other material

3. present

with all the preparation, teacher should know how to present the work. at this time, students will engage with the lesson

4. practice

at this stage, students will do the activities and understand the lesson

5. post activities

enrichment activities must be given where at this stage teacher can see and know whether the lesson objective is achive or not and whetther the students undertsand the lesson
TEACH in SARAWAK???

like i guess b4, prof will shared her experience with us about her research in a big and huge place called as SARAWAK. i loves when Prof shows us pictures about her journey. im a kind o man who love nature, so i guess with those pictures attarcted me but i decided not to post and teach in this place called SARAWAK. why? hmm personal reason actually. i dont want to be apart far away from my pareents. it is not that im "anak mak" type but i want to be always with them. both my brothers works far away from hometown and rarely come back to KG. everyday my parents getting older and i think that it is my responsibility to tace care of them. it is fine with me if my other sibings works far away from KG, as long as there is s'one to take care of my parents. another reason is it can save money. if i been posted at my KG, i can save lots of money. no need to rent house and aslo dont really need to think about food because my lovely mother will cook for me hehehe....

well lets go back to this SARAWAk thing. i think SARaWak is a nice place to seek experience where it is far away from SEmenaNunG so we can learn to be independence and not been call as "anak mak" or sumting2 like it. there are some advantages and disadvantages when prof shared her experienced with. some of the advantages are it can motivate for those people who wants to be far away from their parents like my lovely friend Aisyah who want to be apart with her parents so that se can be more independent by her own. 2ndly, it can change our mind setting about this education sector. honestly before prof shared about her experienced, i thougt that school in rural areas have no electricity and lack of facilities like computer LAB, media room and many more but i was wrong. there have all the facilities that they needed to teach in school. and the advantage of it is we will be afraid to be post in rural areas because there are no entertainment and sometimes we NEED to use boat to go to school. it can demotivate some of us to study abroad to SARAWAK.

from Prof experienced, i realized that even in the rural areas they use this thing called TECHNOLOGY. prof showed us pictures that they have LCD, notebook, and other technology tools to be use during teaching. so we who lived in this URBAN areas should not be hesitate to use technology in our teaching so that we are not left behind by them. i also realized that teacher there are very noble where they willing to sacrificed hemselve in order to teach this rural areas pupils. they even off their electricity during day time in order to save budget so that they can feed all the children mouth because almost all of them stayed in school (asrama). we should be thankful that we living in URBAN areas which we dont really need to safrifices ourself in order to be a noble teacher. when the LAB airconditioner are not working, we complain that it is hot an cant concentrate our study and want to go back early. they (teacher in sarawak) dont even use electricity during day time to teach and also used this speeboat to school where they need to get up early in the morning. "Being a teacher is a DIFFICULT job, but being a noble teacher who willing to sacrifices for their students are DIFFICULT to find."

so i decided to be a noble teacher in the future but still i dont want to be posted in SARAWAK. i think that there are still lots of ways to be a noble teacher. so i choosed another part to be a noble teacher.

FREE WEEK W/OUT PROF
Prof already check about the quantity of our blog, and i guess it is still not to late to publish some of the blog. i wondered why my blog is fewer than others. after a hard check, i realized that there was a blog that i already pubish but it is dissapeared. the blog is entitle "technology can support the vision but cant be the vision". So i guess i need to re-do the blog (uwaa) what a burden to re-do it all over again.

back to todays' blog. there are not much to say because of no lecturer avaiable, so i decided not to come for today class (sgt jahat) however, i already did my work about my wiki group work. the night before, i already discussed with my group and hand them some of the material, although it was not publish yet, it still under consideration because lots of editing are needed because the material was too long. so it will be posted soon.


prof cant attend today's class because she went to SARAWAK for her research about this technology things. i hoped that prof will share her story because she shared with us before with her wonderful experienced journey from west to south and to north and not forget east m'sia. one of my housemates are from SARAWAK and he really PROUD of it, i hope that prof will give us some tips to comments about this place so call as SARAWAK so that we can 'kutuk2' him hehe. well, i'm looking forward with next class and hoped that prof will share her wonderful experience there.

For today class, I did not really looking forward to attend it because of some problem with our streamix connection and the technician only available during our class period of time. After a huge discussion, I decided to attend this class and left our bro here Mr Firdaus to wait for the technician. Luckily, the technician took about 20minutes to fix the problem and Firdaus manage to sneak in to class after that although he was a little bit late. Today prof explains about MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES. I think I am familiar with this term because we already learned and go through it in MPIK. It is just the matter of digging out’ our previous knowledge that we learned there.

Multiple intelligences can be categorizes into 8 category.
1. Linguistic-intelligence ("word smart"):
2. Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
3. Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
4. Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
5. Musical intelligence ("music smart")
6. Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
7. Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
8. Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")

I think I don’t really need to explain it because most of them already explain I their blog (malas sebenonyer ;p) when Prof explain about this types of intelligences, I tried to figure out what and which intelligences do I belong to. so after some hard thinking and hot discussion about myself with my friend, I realized that I have more than one intelligence (ingtkan 1 je). Definitely I’m not in linguistic (just look at the way I wrote my blog (grammar mistake sane sini). I think I am in the logical maths, bodily kinesthetic, spatial and not really sure about inter and intra personal hehe.

When I learned about this multiple intelligences, I realized that different pupils have different intelligences. This means that different pupils have their own learning styles. So as a future teacher, we must not use the same techniques of teaching because it will not cater all the pupils’ style of learning. Variety of teaching techniques must be used in order to cater all the styles so that they will not feel neglected in the class and demotivates them in learning. Teacher must always creative in their teaching so that the term ‘boredom’ will not appear in pupils mind. Take example from the previous lesson where Prof throws fish in class. Pupils will enjoy it and this will motivates them in learning.

So teachers out there, always bear in mind that pupils nowadays prefers different kinds of learning. It will demotivate them if the same techniques are being used all the time. Nowadays technology can’t be separate with our daily life, so make useful of this technology in your teaching. Hope that I will be a great teacher in the future.

PoEIT???
When i heard this word, i said to myself, what the heck it is? then prof asked pupils, what is Poeit? i just kept quiet and pray in my heart hoped that prof will not asked me to answer it. after she had explain about it, the vision became clear and i understand it bit by bit. PoEIT is 'Pedagogy of Engagement Integrating Technology' (if i am not mistaken lah). from my understanding, the word 'integrating technoogy' itself tell us that nowadays in this world, using technology is one of the important tools in our life. we cant be seperated from technology world. even technology is used to post this blog. we as educators, must always equip ourself with technology so that it can upgrade our education sectors to be one of the best sectors in our country even global. so

this week also we been introduced with WIKI. what is WIKI? i heard this word before, but it is not abou webseite. from my understanding, WIKI is a name of a comic in Japan, but today i know that WIKI is not only name of a comic but something else. the best thing for today is there was no fish for today. so no throwing fish anymore. anyway, im lookig forward for today class because i tought the will be throwing thing in the class (i'm planning to throw to some one face har3). well no fish for today, so no 'protein' tat motivate to study today. since class begin, my mind actually at somewhere else. i just hoped that the class finish early so that i can do my work at the other LAB, (hehe kantoi bt keje lain) actually there are so many assignments to be submit in this week. actually i had already prepare my draft for last two week blog but my 'lovely' thumbdrive make it dissappered so i dont have the mood to rewrite it again, so just wait ok. i think, i already out of the topic. so better stop here. thanks for the comments, your comment motivate me to write my blog, hehe.

fish philosphy???
Fish philosophy? what is that? today we learned about new thing called fish philosophy. A cute name that makes me wondering, "fish has theirown philosophy? what a world we live on".
today was a history for me because i was shocked when prof, threw away fish toys to other and asked other to trew it to other and another and to others. so we threw away the toys and try to act like a primary children who throw thing to others. it was fun actually when some of us threw the toys and the person cant catch the fish and hit their friend. but prof said that we were still not childish enough. so our lesson today was about a philosophy called fish philosophy. prof start the lesson with the history of this phiosophy.there are 4 simple princile in this philosophy:
  1. Play- the name already tell us what it is all about. of course have fun an play all day long. this is what i like most because it is about playing and have fun at school. well since childhood i loved to play even during class that is why i always became the 'most wanted' in my class. so as a teacher, we must ensure that pupils in our class enjoys and have fun in their learning but in control and education. create jokes, and everyday tell jokes to pupils, pupils especally young children love jokes. put toys to play with, (ex. Dr Maznah trow fish to others, its fun hehe) you also can use music to attratc them, play music that they like and request, be the deejay of the day.
  2. Make their day- try to engage them with the fun. you can start the class with compliment such as what a beautifu class today, you all look so happy and cute today. try to make them happy for a day. they will enjoy the class with only praising but be sure that only positive comments allow. the best thing are appreciate what they had done in the class. pupils will be motivate if their work been appreciate by others
  3. Be there- this mean pay attention to others and be there when they are in need. they are like a white sheet that need somebody to decorate them and guide them. young learner are easily hurt and sensitive. dont let them feel that they are been neglected. it is dangerous to do so. smile to them, a simple smile can make tem feel appreciated and they feel there is somebody that is always there for them. be friendly to them, share problem with them even you can share your own poblem with them.
  4. Choose your attitude- what can i say bout this principle, before you start your day, choose your mood for today. today you wwanted to be happy like ronald macdonald and ou act like ones. prof. said that if we wanted to be a 'toxic' teacher, we will be a toxic teacher that will make pupils feel like they are in hell. be an angle in the class, you will always be in good mood and tell them what you like and dont like, negotiate with them so that they class can be happening and pupils looking forward to attend your class.

Free journal week
Smart board planning


There was no lecture this week and we were given three hours time to complete our group assignment. Like always, for the first half an hour I would surf the net especially downloading the latest updated anti virus for my desktop at home. During the process, I would check my e-mail and also our PKEY3101 website where lots of information especially about this course could be obtained from there. I rarely surf my friendster because I was not interested in getting new friends except to try to keep in touch with my old friend.
Back to our subject. When we sat in a group, we individually presented our ideas to our group so that we could get some feedbacks to improve our work. We had already delegated thw works that were supposed to be done, where I took the mathematics part. When I presented my ideas to my group, they were satisfied with the ideas but some adjustment and alteration must be made so that it fulfilled the criteria. I decided to teach mathematics using story as the medium of teaching. The topic was about whole numbers and I am focusing on odd and even numbers in the range of one to ten. My target group was year 1 pupils with average level of proficiency.
Then I started my work using the smart board. Like always, gallery will be my favourite site to search on because pupils, especially young learners loved pictures and colours. So I decided to use colours that could attract them to the lesson. I also used familiar characters such as camels, bee and ant in my story.
The story was about two camels named odd and even. Throughout this story, odd and even number could be introduced to the pupils. It was a simple story and mainly about dragging the characters, their names and also tried to imitate the characters’ voice. So, it depend on the story teller whether the story could entertain the pupils or not.
Follow up activity must be done to reinforce pupils’ understanding about the story or the lesson. It was a simple activity but it measures pupils’ understanding about the lesson. I hope my work would be appreciated even though it was a simple activity or story, but it was still not too simple for lower proficiency pupils. The end.
